Why 20,000 AT&T Workers Are on Strike Across Southeastern U.S. |

Aug. 27, 2019 | STRIKES | AT&T workers in nine states across the southeastern U.S. are on strike over what union leaders describe as unfair labor practices in contract negotiations. The strike, which started Saturday, involves more than 20,000 employees of Dallas-based AT&T that are members of Communications Workers of America, the union representing workers in telecom, media, airlines and other lines of work. On its website, CWA District 3 said employees were "disrespected" when AT&T sent labor relations experts to the bargaining table who lacked authority to make contract decisions. It also accused AT&T of changing an agreement governing how the two parties meet and bargain for wages and benefits…Dallas News (Photo: Matt Williamson /The Enterprise-Journal via AP) |
